Taenidium bowni (Smith, Hasiotis, Kraus et Wood, 2008)

Description.—Straight to sinuous, unbranched, unlined,meniscatefilled burrows, with circular to ellipsoidal section and oriented variably to the bedding plane. Burrow fill similar to the host rock, but with different color. Meniscate fill is homogenous with menisci distinguished by the oxide precipitation through the discontinuities between them. Menisci are densely stacked and grouped in elliptical shaped packets. Trace
width is 6–16mm. Maximum observed length is 178 mm. Preserved in full relief. Overlapping among different specimens is very common.

Diagnosis.—Sinuous, variably oriented, unbranched, and unlined burrows composed of anested series of distinct, ellipsoidshaped, asymmetrical packets. Packets typically are asymmetrically oriented around the axis of the burrow and offset from one another. The length-to-width ratio of each packet depends on the spacing between individual packets; some packets have a ratiomuch greater than 1; others have a ratio much less than 1. Packetscontain thin, indistinct, and tightly spaced meniscate fill. Menisciare subparallel to the bounding packet, typically discontinuous,and difficult to trace. Short burrow sections may be composed only of unbound menisci. Menisci in thin section are unpelleted and texturally homogeneous with each other and the surrounding strata. Burrow walls exposed in the matrix are extremely rare andare mostly smooth or with slight annulae when present that correspond with the ellipsoidal packet.
