Taxon description

Tapanila & Roberts, 2012

Xylokrypta durossi is a curved, roughly U-shaped, boring having
two widely-spaced, circular cylindrical shafts that connect below
the wood surface to a kidney-shaped chamber. All margins of the
boring are sharp, cross-cutting the xylem tissues with minor
deformation. The boring penetrates 10–14 mm deep, enough to
maintain a 1–2 mm ‘roof’ of xylem above the chamber.
