Diagnosis: The boring system is composed of branched tunnels (Text-fig. 1A, left), extending from the point of entry deep into the substrate. The resin casts appear as ramified bushes 150-600 μm [M ± s (n) = 267.5 ± 102.3 (8) μm] across. The tunnels are 10-30 μm in diameter. They are knotty in appearance with alternating wider [22.5 ± 2. 72 (15) μm] and narrower [13.6 ± 1.69 (15) μm] sections. Ramification is frequent, mostly occurring at right angles (Text-fig. 1C). The length of internodal sections between two ramification points is 48.3 ± 12.4 (17) μm. Terminal rami are inflated and club-shaped, slightly arched with rounded or acuminate ends (Text-fig. 1C, insert; Text-fig. 1D). Small lateral rounded or pointed extensions are common.
