Cavernula pediculata Radtke, 1991
Wisshak et al., 2019a
Microboring; substrate calcareous; tracemaker plant.
Wisshak et al., 2008
Description. Solitary large (20-35 µm wide and 30-70 µm deep) cavities mostly oriented perpendicular to the substrate surface and connected to the latter by few thick rhizoidal appendages (Fig. 6C-F). The cavity is variable in its morphological appearance ranging from broad dome-shaped forms to narrower dome (Fig. 6C, E) to club-shaped forms (Fig. 6D). The short rhizoids or at least their point of entry is often obscured by a carpet of other traces which are towered by Cavernula pediculata (Fig. 6E).
Wisshak et al., 2005a
Original ichnospecies diagnosis: Solitary, large, sack-, bag-, to pear-shaped cavities, approximately perpendicular to the substrate surface, mostly connected to the latter by a number of rhizoidal appendages (after Radtke 1991).
