Ichnofossils
Species

Aulichnites parkerensis Fenton et Fenton, 1937

Taxon description

Howard & Frey, 1984

Diagnosis: Sinuous to straight, unbranched, bilobate trails having a narrow median furrow.

Classification: Preserved as epichnial ridges. Interpreted as crawling traces of gastropods or other animals of similar locomotor habit.

Description Given specimens are consistent in width; the size range observed among different specimens is about 0.5-1cm. Crossovers are common locally, but the trails ordinarily do not intersect. In places, the lobes may exhibit vague annulations, presumably related to peristalsis. Sinuosity of the trails is variable. Some are straight for appreciable lengths, whereas others are arcuate to meandrous.Lobe convexity is evidently as much a function of preservation al processes as of original ethological ones.
