Macroboring; substrate calcareous; tracemaker invertebrate
Buatois et al., 2017
Category of architectural design: 2.61. Winding borings.
Knaust, 2012a
Unbranched, winding.
Wisshak et al., 2017b
Emended diagnosis: Long, cylindrical tunnels in lithic calcareous substrates, penetrating the substrate either twinelike in narrow windings or in wider ribbons, depending on available space. Occasionally a vane is developed between the concave side of the tunnels, whereas, more commonly, a narrow and distinct vane runs along most parts of the tunnel, connecting it to the substrate surface.
Bromley, 2004a
Ichnogenus Lapispecus is a winding, cylindrical boring. It differs from Trypanites in having a short, lateral vane extending along it locally, especially on the inside of curves (Voigt 1970, 1971; Bromley 1972).
