Diagnosis/description: Longitudinal borings with rectangular cross sections and rounded corners (height: width = 1:4); interconnected by tangential tunnels; with outer layer and filled with frass, or with meniscus structure

Amended diagnosis: A boxwork of anastomosed longitudinal, tangential and radial borings at different depths in the xylem. Cross‐section is rectangular to circular. Borings have an outer layer and can be filled with frass (after Genise, 1995)

Genise, 1995

Diagnosis: Longitudinal borings at different depths inthe xylem, interconnected by tangential tunnels. Crosssections of borings are rectangular; with rounded cornersand extremely flat; the height approximately one-fourththe width. Borings have an outer layer and are filled withfrass that is mostly separated in packages, or has meniscusstructure. Borings are in permineralized wood of a con-ifer, which exhibits well-preserved cellular structure.
