Sanctum laurentiensis Erickson et Bouchard, 2003

Taksoni kirjeldused

Erickson & Bouchard, 2003

Diagnosis. Domichnia in Bryozoa with single entrances 1.1 to 3.2 mm in diameter, leading by a similarly sized shaft through exozone into a cavity or chamber excavated from endozonal skeleton. Chambers may bifurcate; chamber walls commonly rough, uneven; shaft and chambers unlined; chamber widths known to range from 1.0 mm to 19 mm and length to exceed 53 mm.

Description. This new trace fossil is a cavity or chamber that normally has a single entrance ranging from 0.9 mm to 3.2 mm in diameter. Openings lead to a similarly sized, or slightly narrower, shaft that attack upon zooecia whose orientations differ between the exozone and the endozone. Excavated fragments of endozone zooecia appear to have been cleared from chambers by their creators.
