Cochlichnus anguineus Hitchcock, 1858

Taksoni kirjeldused

Gibert & Ekdale, 2002

Tracemaker. Cochlichnus has been interpreted as a locomotion or grazing trace (Buatois et al., 1997). It has been traditionally suggested that the most likely producers of this trace are nematode worms (Moussa, 1970), although Gluszek (1995) proposed a longer list of potential tracemakers, including also annelids, nematomorphs, dipterous insect larvae and cyclostome agnathans.

Chen, Z.-Q. et al., 2012

Description. Sinusoidal, unbranched, unlined burrows are preserved in positiverelief (Fig. 9F). Burrow is 2 mm in diameter and consistent in width through the entire length observed. Wavelength is about 10 mm, and amplitude of the wave ranges from 2 mm to 3 mm.
