Beaconites antarcticus Vialov, 1962

Taksoni kirjeldused

Bradshaw, 1981

Emended description: Small backfilled horizontal tubular burrows, straight or slightly curved, generally 10 mm in diameter and seldom more than 30 mm. Burrow infill same as surrounding rock and composed of straight or slightly arched packets of sediment (meniscus structure) suggesting movement away from the concave side. Burrows either horizontal or oblique to bedding. Internal packets often quite thick in relation to width of the burrow, and may weather differentially (see Vialov 1962, fig. 9). However, in many cases, the backfilling has an irregular appearance, and a poorly developed sand lining to the burrow is more obvious (Fig. 15).

Vialov, 1962

description. Cylindrical hollow tubes (or semicylindrical grooves), diameter up to 1,5 cm, straight or bent, with septae of the same thickness as the length of adjacent hollow portions of the tubes. They occur on bedding planes and also appear to enter the beds obliquely or perpendicularly to the bedding.
