Macroboring; substrate xylic; tracemaker invertebrate

Diagnosis. Hole in hard outer layer of fruit, seed or endocarp with parallel grooves on hole wall. One surface of outer layer intersected sharply by the grooves, the other surface ragged at hole edge with chipped areas intervening between surface and grooves. Sometimes recognisable: a series of narrow impressions on surface adjacent to ragged hole edge and encircling the hole.
