Key feature (diagnosis): S. polypoda is a morphotype similar in height to S. clava, but wider. Each sporangial sac extends from a primary stalk with a collar and widens into an relatively isodiametric shape (30–40 μm in diameter), often with a flat top (Fig. 4c, d). Secondary, relatively wide tubular protrusions emerge from the main body of the swelling and connect to the substrate surface without forming a collar. This results in bipedal and tripedal structures. Additional protrusions that do not reach the surface are observed as projections from the main body (Fig. 4d, right)
