Diagnosis Rectilinear to curvilinear objects along bedding planes, of millimetric width and centimetric length, composed of ornamented central axis of iron oxide, and surrounded by a smooth, generally thick, uniformly wide pelitic envelope; contact between axis and envelope has fine, uniform, submillimetric sculpture ranging from striated to verrucose; envelope distinguished from the coarser, poorly sorted sediment matrix by predominance of well sorted, fine-grained argillaceous material.
