Taxon description
Neto de Carvalho et al., 2016b
Diagnosis: Flabellate-shaped Phycodes filled with faecal pellets.
Description: Flabellate-shaped burrow system starting from a broad area connected upwards by a single burrow. From this sac-like area up to 170 mm long, 4 to 9 upward-directed burrows diverge as a fan with different, sometimes large angles between them (Fig. 4A). These projections show an elliptical cross section due to compaction, and an irregular shape and size. Filling is composed of faecal pellets that may be aligned with the border of the burrows (Fig. 4B).
